Each beautiful snowflake that you will see this winter, is actually a unique crystalline structure made up of water molecules. There are infinite different possibilities, in the intricate details of how water manifests, in the shapes of snowflakes. They may look similar, especially when they were created in the same storm, but it is extremely rare, if not impossible, to find two that are actually the same.
Snowflakes can come from different water sources with different possible environmental pollutants, they evaporate into differently shaped clouds, hovering over different locations...
They fall in different shapes and sizes from different altitudes, at differing temperatures. And they can last on Earth for different amounts of time, before melting back into water.
Infinity… A Google search for the definition reveals, that the word has roots in Latin. ‘In’ means ‘not’ and ‘finites’ means ‘finished or finite’. It is limitless and expansive. Some examples of finite resources on our planet, would be water and trees. As there is a certain amount or volume of it/them present, at any given time on Earth. When we explore infinity far enough, we start getting into topics that are impossible to measure and can only be explored as possibilities. Some examples of infinite resources might be; Usui Reiki energy and unconditional love. Please know that in the following article I am not trying to definitively explain any part of infinity, I am just inspired to write about some of the possible consequences of the concept of it.
There are no absolute certainties when it comes to infinity… Distance and size are relative terms. How far is far? I guess it depends on the physical location and whether you are walking, riding, driving or flying - in a plane or in a rocketship! How large is large and how small is small? A car seems a whole lot bigger when you are standing next to it versus when you are looking down on it, from the window of a plane… Also, our sun looks huge when it is shown, in relation to our planet Earth, but yet it looks tiny when it is shown in relation to one of the many bigger stars, such as Arcturus, which NASA’s website reports as being 23 times bigger.
At the end of the first, Men In Black movie (Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld. Columbia, 1997) , the camera focuses in on Will Smith and his new partner “L”, in their car and then pans out, revealing; the traffic, the street, New York, North America, Earth, the Sun and The Milky Way Galaxy, which it then turns out, is just one marble that an alien is playing with… If you don’t know the movie, you can see a similar panning effect, by scrolling out from any point on the application, Google Earth. Even without technology, you can explore this idea, by allowing your imagination to focus in on, the place where you currently are and then expanding your view out, as far as your imagination will go.
It is said that our universe is infinite… So what is beyond our solar system and Milky Way Galaxy? What if our whole universe is only one part of a larger multiverse? Could there be an infinite number of universes? If so, then couldn’t there be other sentient beings out there? They may or may not exist exactly like we do, in the third dimension, but just because we can’t identify other beings or entities with our five senses, does not necessarily mean that they do not exist, here on Earth or out there in space. Perhaps there are other life forms existing in other dimensions that we simply could not experience from our third dimensional point of view. How many other dimensions are there anyways…?
There are many fundamental life questions that can have many different truthful answers depending on who you ask them to... Where does my soul travel to, while I sleep? When I die…? Your answer may or may not be the same as your neighbors’. Where does my soul come from? Where has my soul been? We are all only seeing one perspective of the world, our own sentient view.
Our personal truth is generally based upon the beliefs and experiences that we have learned from and accept to be true. We all need to explore and evaluate what is true for ourselves. In an infinite universe, just because two people’s beliefs may be different, does not mean that one of them has to be wrong. We can choose to honor, the existence of all other sentient beings and their beliefs as well. Our differences are what make each of us unique.
If you are unsure about what is true for you, you can gain access to insight and answers from your subconscious soul through many different ways, including; prayer, meditation, relaxation, analysis of symbols in dreams, psychic readings and also through hypnosis.
We are like snowflakes; similar and yet beautifully different. All of the 7 billion+ people on this planet (including identical twins) have their own unique set of fingerprints , their own bodies and souls, personalities, passions and egos, karma and merit, lessons learned from current life experiences and possibly past lifetimes, beliefs, and truths, forming their own unique realities.
Situations in life can always get infinitely better or infinitely worse, depending on what you are focusing on. Whatever feeling you are feeling, in any given moment will be attracting more of that feeling and amplifying that state. This is why when you are feeling like you are at the bottom of your barrel, you may find that there actually is no bottom and that your situation could still get worse. I was experiencing that realization, when I learned from a professional coach, that a wonderful way to stop a spiral of negative feelings and feelings of rejection for your life situation, is to focus in on what you feel thankful for, in any given moment. Even in your darkest moment, there will still be something that you can find to feel thankful for. Even if it is your breath. If you can focus on the feeling of gratitude for that thing, then you will naturally be attracting more of the things and situations that you would feel greatful for.
Every human being is a creator, creating their own unique expression of life, through simply living and just being themselves. It is possible that every human being could have a creator as well. It is also possible that different human beings could have different creators and it is even possible that a person’s creator may have a creator… We can only know what we feel to be true for us, regarding this. Which creation story resonates best with you? How far back in time does humanity actually reach, on this Earth anyways? How many ancient civilizations were present on our planet before our current set of known history began?
We are the consequences of our species’ past and everything that existed before us. If our ancestors did not decide to do exactly what they did, precisely when they did it, then we may not find ourselves even here, or in the same situations that we find ourselves in. Human history and human creation is not yet finished either. There is endless potential for us to create change, to heal and to evolve in our personal lives, as well as in our combined future reality.
Imagination is a tool that we can use to solve problems and to enhance our lives. Try not to limit your imagination or your potential when it comes to what you are the most passionate about and what your soul wants to focus on. The creative possibilities in our imaginations are infinite. Together, we can create a more sustainable way of life, for our future generations. In order to affect changes, we will have to take physical actions as well, but getting inspired with our imagination is one place where we can start the creation process of infinite possibility, to begin manifesting in our own lives. What will you focus your imagination on creating in your life, in the New Year?

Fall Clearing - Part 2
Labels:

Like a closed up cottage over the winter
season, stale air can accumulate in any space.
Similarly, stagnant energies can build up inside of a home or within a person’s
energy system.
Smudging is one method of
energy clearing that I like to use, to ensure that my energetic space is
cleared of unwanted or stagnant energies. I like to smudge my self, my home, my partner
and pets, my clients(upon request),any treatment room that I use and my
massage table (before and after treatments).
I first learned how to use sage, to smudge myself, others and spaces, in
my Usui Reiki Level 1 Workshop. I have
felt a positive difference in my own energy system, after having my aura
smudged and have felt more relaxed in my space, after smudging my home.
In Canadian First Nations and Indigenous North
American traditions; Sage, Sweetgrass, Cedar and Tobacco (not cigarettes, but natural
tobacco) are considered to be sacred medicines that can be used for energy
clearing. In South America, Paolo Santo,
which means “sacred stick,” is traditionally used. It is also known as Sandalwood. Another herb that is lovely to use is Lavender,
or any other flowers or herbs that you have or would like to use, such as Rose
petals, etc… In many different
international cultures and religions, natural incenses, such as Copal, Amber or
Frankincense, are burned in rituals, with specific intentions. Each sacred medicine has its own specific uses
and medicinal properties and can usually be burned alone, or combined with
others.
Smoke is generally toxic, for humans to inhale. If you don’t like working with fire or smoke,
there are soaps, oils and sprays that you can purchase, online or in some
wellness stores, which are made with the essences of these same clearing
medicines. For example, a sage goat’s
milk soap can absolutely clear your aura, if you use it with that intention, in
the shower. There is also Agua De
Florida, which is often used in South American traditions for clearing and some
natural medicine sprays, which smell beautiful.
They can clear heavy energy from your aura, on the spot, at any time, in
any place, if you use them, while holding that intention. The vibration of
sound can also clear energy. A rattle or
shaker, chimes, drums, didgeridoos or any instruments can be used, while holding
the intention to clear energy. Reiki
energy can clear auras and spaces as well and anyone can learn and practice
it! I do believe that multi-dimensional beings
such as; God or Great Spirit, Angels, Archangels, Spirit Guides and Helpers, can
completely clear energy and spaces for you or with you, when they are
faithfully invited to do so. Tools and
rituals may not be needed at all for energy clearing, but they do serve as a tangible
way of inviting it to happen, by focusing your full attention on what you
desire to take place.
If you would like to try smudging, know
that it is an ancient and sacred tradition and use it with respect and
gratitude. You can buy or make a smudge
mixture. When gathering medicines from
nature, it is ideal to take less than one third of what is there, to avoid
damage to the plant. It is also ideal to
first connect with and request permission from plant and wait until you
perceive a response. Give thanks for
what you take. When you have all of your
materials gathered, you can hang them to dry them out. When it feels like the right time for you to combine
the mixture, you can infuse clear intentions into it, about what you will be
using it for.
To spread the smoke, you can use a feather
or a fan, or even your own hand. I have
found that a feather can be very nice for smudging the aura of a person,
whereas a fan can be slightly more effective in clearing larger spaces. It is ideal to receive a feather for this
purpose, as a gift. If you happen to find
the perfect feather in nature, be sure to give thanks for it, wash it well, and
your hands too! You can use a shell or a
fireproof bowl, to hold the burning mixture.
If you choose a metal bowl, it may become very hot, so use an oven mitt,
a wet towel or a small pot, to hold the bowl.
If smudging inside, pay attention to where your smoke detectors are and
don’t light the flame directly under one. If you are smudging inside, it is a good idea
to open a window, to allow the smoke (and negative energies) to leave your
space easily.
When you are ready to begin, take a moment
to get centered and grounded and connect with the feeling of love in your heart. You can invite divine guides and helpers to
assist. Light your smudge and then wait
until the flame goes down and the smudge starts smoking. You want to sweep the smoke slowly and with
confidence. When smudging yourself; one
way would be to start at your heart, then sweep up over your face and behind your
head, along and under your arms, down your torso, legs, under your feet, and then
over your shoulders and down your back.
You may want to intuitively spend more time on certain areas than others. When smudging someone else; you may want to
start at their heart, go up over the head and to your right, (their left),
clockwise around the whole front of their body, having them pick up their feet
when you get there to go under and having them turn around when you reach the
top again so that you can go down their back.
In smudging a house, you can start at the bottom left corner of the front
door and go around the door and then the house in a complete circle, being sure
to pay attention to room corners, cupboards and drawers, closets and anywhere
that stagnant energy would be likely to accumulate. These methods are just suggestions and different
traditions might suggest doing it differently. What matters most is your
intentions.
While smudging you can state clear and
simple affirmations in your mind, such as “This space is now cleared…”, or “Only
loving energies may remain here…” You must find the tools and intentions that will
work best for you! You can direct any
unwanted energies on where they should go, (rather than having them linger
around in your basement or your neighbors home). Ex. “Any energies that are unwanted by my
higher self, must go directly into the Earth for transmutation.” Our Earth is a
sentient being who can accept and transmute both light and dark energies, but
if you are going to send unwanted energies to her, be sure to send her your energies
of love and thanks as well! You could
also imagine heavy energies being lifted away from your space in the smoke to
be processed by your guides and helpers.
There are many methods that can be
effective in clearing energy and I would encourage you to do your own internal
and external research, to find out the methods that will work best for you. There are articles and videos online and many
people that you could ask to speak with, who work with plants, medicines and
traditional customs. Remember that much of the information that you uncover
will be coming from another human’s perspective. Be selective in what you accept as your
truth. You can find your own way to
clear unwanted energies, that will resonate well with you, your life and your personal
beliefs.

Fall Clearing

I was told once by a shaman whom I trust that, “Everything imagined exists”. It took me a while to process that
thought and its implications… I do believe
in the spirit world, a world that exists beyond our third dimension, which we experience
with our five senses. I can only share what
I have learned and experienced in my own journey. The following article is nowhere close to a
complete story, (as that would be impossible), and none of the following is
based on scientific facts, but rather on a belief in the existence of imagined beings.
Some of us know these beings through our dreams, or as a
part of our faith. Some humans can perceive
these beings directly, through heightened senses such as; clairvoyance,
clairaudience and clairsentience.
We are all entities… Our human bodies are made up of dense masses
of energy. There are other masses of
energy or entities, sharing our universe as well. Some may have bodies made of different
densities of energy, they may not have bodies at all, or they may be able to
shift their shape. When a spirit’s
energy is not as dense as our human form, we may not see it with our human eyes,
however that does not mean that it is not there.
Energetic entities can be positive or negative, in terms of their vibration and
purpose. For example with regards to
ghosts, you can have positive ghosts, which may be loved ones who have passed
on, visiting, helping or guiding you. You
can have negative or troublesome ghosts, trying to create fear and chaos, as in
the case of some haunted houses. Some
ghosts are neutral though and are just stuck to Earth by their own
beliefs. They may be doing the same
thing, day in and day out, that they did when they were alive, not knowing that
there may be somewhere else for them to go to, or perhaps they just love the
space so much, that they want to stay there.
We may know some very positive or light entities, as angels,
Archangels and guardian angels or light beings.
These are spirits that want to help us humans, because they love
us. I have learned and believe that each
human has at least 2 guardian angels who are with them since birth. Yes, they would have seen every action that
you have taken since you were born…
That’s right they have seen every mistake that you have made, but they
have also celebrated all of your accomplishments with you. Privacy is really just an illusion. We have to get used to the fact that we are
never alone. You likely have many spirit
guides and helpers with you all the time, including spirit animals! They are often just waiting to be invited to
help you energetically, to work through whatever issues you are facing.
Many people also have dark energy or negative entities attached
to them, as well. If you are having a
bad day at work, you can easily bring home dark, heavy energy in your aura. Demons
and dark entities generally feed off of fear or forms of fear, such as anger
and they work to perpetuate those feelings.
Some demons may become present in a person’s life, through the subconscious
invitation of their own angry, fearful or addictive behaviours.
It is possible for some dark entities to attach to our
energy field, while we are in a vulnerable state or when we are children, by making
some kind of agreement with us, like eternal friendship for example. With our subconscious permission, they can attach
with a cord and exist with us for years, feeding off of our life energy and leaving
us depleted. They can speak to us in our
own voice, encouraging bad decisions and self-sabotage, leading to
disappointments, chaos and ultimately sadness and fear. Some dark or negative entities are also like
animals and some can jump from person to person. When you are just riding the bus, if your
energy is unprotected, you may unwillingly bring home a new entity with you.
How can you get rid
of unwanted energies in your aura or home space?
There are a few things that you can try. You can of course, at any time, pray with
faith, to whatever you believe in, for help.
Sometimes simply having a shower can release a heavy or dark
energy. You can easily remove any unwanted
entities (that are not corded to you) with a smudge (smoke or spray) while
holding the intention for anything unwanted, to leave. You can send dark energy into the earth or
into a flame (or imagined violet flame) for transmutation.
The method that you choose, will be most
effective, if it resonates with your belief system. If you feel that there may be an unwanted entity in your
home or attached to your energy body that you can not seem to shake on your own,
you can seek out the assistance of a shaman or Reiki practitioner who is
offering energetic clearings. Most Reiki
practitioners are trained on how to clear a home, with Reiki energy, however
not all would want to!
Some Reiki
practitioners, energy healers and crystal healers will offer their own type of
intuitive etheric surgery, which can permanently remove unwanted entities from
your energetic field. A lot of shamans or
religious leaders, including priests don’t advertise energetic clearing
services, however they are often capable of clearing homes and auras of
unwanted energies.
It is said that on Halloween, the veil between the human and
the spirit worlds is thinner than it is during the rest of the year. You are most likely to see, hear, and feel
other entities (positive or negative) that are present in your life, around
this time. Because of this, the fall
season is the perfect time to review your home and your own energy field and to
take action to remove anything unwanted from your space.

Passing Time

ALL WE REALLY HAVE IS OUR TIME… We are born, we live our lifetime and then we die. We may accumulate possessions, but we can’t take anything with us to the other side when we pass over, except the memories and lessons, that our souls have learned. The seconds, minutes, and hours that we have, in which to choose our life’s experience on this planet, are a precious gift and a responsibility that we received, upon being born. Our time is also the greatest gift that we can share, with others.
HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR TIME??? If you are working or going to school full-time, then almost one third (or more) of your life’s time will be devoted to those activities and related efforts, such as commuting and homework. Another third of your life’s time will easily disappear while you are sleeping, if you are getting the recommended 8 hours of sleep per night for optimum health. (Source: The Canadian Sleep Society)
After work or school and sleeping as much as you can, the average citizen generally has only one third of their life’s time available, for everything else… including gathering and preparing food, eating, cleaning your space, as well as connecting with your pets, family, and friends. Parents are responsible not only for planning their own meals and life’s activities, but for those of their children as well. How much time is left in your life, for your own self-care, health, wellness and relaxation? Sometimes unexpected obligations, obstacles or sickness can arise and interfere with your ideal routine. When all of your necessities are taken care of, how much time is available, for you to explore your own interests, dreams, hobbies and passions?
WHY AM I HERE? Various philosophers in history such as; Plato, Socrates, Aristotle, and Kant, have postulated that to be alive is to have a soul. Many of the world’s major religions also agree that we each have a divine soul as well as a body, including; Buddhism, various denominations of Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Jainism, Judaism, Shamanism, Sikhism, and Taoism, to name a few. (Source: Wikipedia) Each of our souls have incarnated into our bodies, here on Earth, at this time in history, for a reason. We each have a specific purpose or mission. We human beings are co-creating our future together and we are each responsible for our own piece of the overall global puzzle. If enough pieces were connecting at the right time and place, with other required pieces, then we would likely experience much faster resolutions to the major problems in our world.
YOU ARE AN IMPORTANT PIECE OF THE PUZZLE! Part of our individual soul’s purpose can involve overcoming obstacles, learning lessons, developing our unique gifts and talents, sharing your gifts with, connecting with, loving and helping others, to solve problems in the world. Your soul may have one major goal, or it may have many different ones. What you think or feel, is your soul’s purpose may change and evolve over time, but if you are consciously making efforts to move towards whatever you think or feel that it is, then you will be experiencing what you need to experience, such as gaining skills and tools that may benefit you, later on. Often when we are heading in the right direction towards our purpose, we will find that things seem to fall into place more easily. We may experience more synchronicities and miracles in our life and life naturally becomes more joyful, because we are spending time focused on what we love and what interests us.
HOW CAN I LEARN WHAT MY SOUL’S PURPOSE IS?? Each person is unique and has their own ways to tap into their intuition, to find their own truth and to receive clarity and answers. For some it may be through meditation, for some through prayer, for some simply reflecting on questions. If this is your way, you can investigate things like; What activities did you enjoy doing as a child? / What did you dream of becoming when you grew up? /What are you passionate about today? /What brings you joy and makes you excited to get out of bed in the morning? / Which human characteristics do you value the most? You can also try new things, volunteer, get out of your comfort zone and travel; to gain new insights and perspectives.
A holistic approach that is very helpful with uncovering this type of information is Past-Life Regression Therapy. From a regressed state, the client is able to recall activities that have made their soul happy in other lifetimes. They can also experience memories of special skills and talents that their soul possesses, although perhaps due to in-exposure in this lifetime, they may not be aware of. Past-Life Regression Therapy also offers the client an opportunity to release unwanted patterns that keep repeating. If you let your therapist know, that you are looking to explore your soul’s passions and purpose, then they can help you uncover more of this specific information, by asking the right questions, during your session.
HOW CAN I CREATE MORE TIME? When you become aware of your passions and life’s purpose, you naturally want more time to explore and focus on them. Take a fresh, honest look at where you spend your free time. Do you take consistent right actions towards your purpose, or do you squander most of your free time on activities that are neutral, or even damaging to yourself or others? Observe where you tend to get distracted as well. If something is not in your highest interests, or if a situation does not feel healthy to you, can you take steps to remove it from your life?
Look at the items on your to-do list… Is there anything that is not in the scope of your interest, which you could delegate to someone else, who may be more passionate about it? Can you combine any of your tasks for greater efficiency? You may need to communicate with the people closest to you in your life, to set expectations about your time. Let them know honestly and clearly, that you need to take more time to be with yourself, to explore your passions and purpose. Perhaps you can investigate new options in a shared weekly routine and make new agreements and compromises, where needed.
IS MY JOB IN LINE WITH MY SOULS PURPOSE? How do you feel about going to work? Do you dread Mondays? If your job is extremely out of alignment with your values, passions and purpose, perhaps you may want to look into a career that is more related to what you enjoy focusing on, or one that offers a more flexible schedule. A job search can take a lot of time and effort, but it would be worth it, if it ended up aligning your work with your areas of passion, or freeing up more time for you to explore them.
To achieve your souls’ purpose, you will need to BE yourself, be true to yourself and take good care of yourself. If change is needed in your life, know that it can take time to fully manifest. Be gentle with yourself, especially in chaotic times. Your health and wellness is most important. Only when you can take care of yourself, are you going to be able to accomplish your mission and take care of others as well.
It is not selfish to be aware of your soul’s highest interests and to pursue those faithfully. Our piece of the puzzle is up to each of us to work out. We will receive many chances to work it out, in this life or in our next experience. In the bigger picture for Earth and humanity, it is likely that the overall future of our world will go a lot more smoothly, if more souls continue becoming aware of their purpose and making their contribution to the big puzzle.
Don’t stress out if you are unsure of what your purpose is, or if you feel that you are late in getting started on it. We all make mistakes and no one is perfect. We are all perfectly imperfect and are always experiencing exactly what we need, in order to be able to make (new) choices and move forward. Life is about being present in each moment for the whole journey. You can courageously choose to make more time for yourself, for your healing and for your passions. You can choose to enjoy more of the moments of your life’s passing time!

A Key to Sensing Ki

By Care Hudson
When I speak of “Ki” here, I am referring to the life force energy (also known as chi, prana, or subtle energy) that makes up ourselves and our universe. Some people reading this article will have had the natural ability to feel ki energy since birth, and some will have developed the ability during this lifetime. If you don’t know what it is like to feel ki energy, don’t worry! With a bit of dedicated practice, if you want to, you can!
Here is one tried and tested, ki sensing method:
• First, make sure that you have a safe space to relax in. You can do this meditation anywhere; from outdoors in nature, to your bed, or even in the bath… A meditation cushion is often ideal.
• If you are practicing inside, you may want to play some meditation music and dim the lighting.
• Basically, find a comfortable space to sit (or to stand, or lie down, up to you!). Sitting in half lotus with your palms facing up, is one way to start. You can try a new position each time or change your position at any moment, depending on what feels best for you.
• Close your eyes and bring your thoughts to your breath. Start breathing
deeply, in and out of your abdomen. Then bring your awareness to
your palms…
• You can easily bring your full attention to your palms by clapping or
rubbing them together quickly a few times. Clapping or rubbing the
palms is eventually not needed, but it can serve to bring all of your
focused awareness, including your blood and ki energy focus there,
instantly, which can help - especially in the beginning.
• Raise your palms up, in front of your chest, facing each other, but not
touching.
• As you inhale deeply, slowly separate your palms, as you exhale,
slowly bring them back together.
• It is that easy… Now just focus your attention on the sensation of
energy between your palms... This will feel differently for every person.
It may feel like heat, magnetism, electricity, cotton candy, or something
else.
• Continue for as long as you like.
I practiced this meditation for about 5-7 minutes around 2-3x per week, for over 4 years during my time with practicing and teaching Korean Energy Yoga. The technique described above is called Chi-Gam. It is very easy and I witnessed many people tapping into their ability to feel ki energy, with this practice, including myself.
In the beginning of my own practice, I felt nothing between my palms and I would often get frustrated with it. After a few months I knew I was starting to feel some kind of magnetism between my palms... After about 6 months I could feel the energy more clearly. The ability to feel energy seemed to only get stronger and easier with more practice. This practice of ki sensing for me, led into my discovery, learning and practice of energy healing through Reiki, which has in turn, made me even more sensitive to feeling ki energy as well.
There are a lot of benefits to this practice including; the opportunity to connect more deeply with oneself, and to reach a state of theta-level relaxation in your brain, which can assist in physical healing, and the
release of stress, tension and related issues like high blood pressure and insomnia.
You will have your own reasons for wanting to sense ki. Just know that all it will take, is your decision to do so, followed up with your dedicated focus and action. Every person is different. Like learning how to play a musical instrument, it may take a few weeks, months or a few years of practice, but if you are diligent and keep trying, eventually you will get it, so please don’t give up if you don’t feel it right away.
Once you can feel the energy, this practice gets more fun, as you can begin to play with the energy. You can shape it into a ball or expand and contract it as if you were blowing up a balloon, you can move the energy with your hands and change it with your intention. You can form it into any shape that you want, a heart, an infinity symbol, a butterfly, anything… Be as creative as your imagination will allow…
You may want to focus on emptying your mind completely or perhaps on being open to receive information and insights from that space of connectedness. You may also want to expand on this practice, by moving into more of an energy dance, simply moving and dancing freely with your ki energy, as well as exploring the energy that is all around you.
You can do this meditation on its own, or just after another practice, especially one that gets your energy system activated and flowing such as tapping, yoga, dance, any kind of sport or exercise, gym workouts, walks, hikes, runs, swims, etc... You may notice an increase in the sensation and strength of the energy flow, when practicing ki sensing, after another physical activity.
Ideally you will want to keep your eyes closed the whole time during this meditation, to keep the energy focus inside your body. However go ahead and peek, once in a while! You may find that one day you may even begin to see the ki energy stretching between your palms, and that is another sense that you again can work on developing, if you so desire.
Over time, if you make it your intention to feel ki energy and take action to practice this style of meditation regularly, you will surely become more and more sensitive to ki. Essentially you and your own persistence, are the key, to your own unique experience of sensing Ki.

Different Flavours of Hugs and Reiki

Everything in our 3D world is made of energy.
This energy is in everything; including you, me, the Gusto magazine that you are holding, or the computer screen that you are looking at. Although the building blocks of matter, atoms and cells, look similar, each different piece of matter has, its own energetic vibration. You can see examples of this in art and music.
The notes used in two songs may be the same, but their overall vibration can be very different. Similarly, the paint and canvas used in two paintings may be similar, but with them, the artist can create two very different pieces that generate different reactions.
Any person can transfer their own energy to another person. In fact we do it all the time, unconsciously. Our inner emotions and subsequent thoughts carry different energetic vibrations and can be transmitted, within all forms of our communications or connections. When two people hug each other, for example, they can experience a very intimate connection. By the close proximity of their physical bodies, their auras or energy bodies are also connecting.
Not all hugs feel the same, as you know. For example, hugging your mom can feel different from hugging your dad, sibling, friend or partner. Yes, this is because their physical body’s shapes will be different, but also because different people have different energetic vibrations. Also, the same two people can hug quite differently at different times, depending on what is going on in their lives, which may be affecting their energy levels. Are they feeling elated? Are they feeling depleted? Each hug is a unique experience. No two hugs are ever the same.
There is always an energy exchange that takes place, in a hug. It may be an equal exchange or it may be coming more strongly from one person towards the other. The thought or intention behind the hug, such as; “I love you” or “I hope you feel better soon,” defines that hug’s vibration. The source of the energy being transmitted in a hug is generally the Ki energy or life force, of the participants themselves.
Reiki is a modality of energy healing that involves a transfer of energy. This healing energy is not coming from the practitioner’s ki energy system directly, but is flowing through it, from a larger source that the practitioner is trained and attuned, to connect with. The source energy is then directed, primarily through the hands of the practitioner, into their client’s energy body or aura.
Reiki works by clearing out stagnant energy and replacing it with new fresh source energy. Healing, an issue on the energetic level can then allow for greater ease of healing taking place, on the physical level. Plus it feels very good and is extremely relaxing.
The practice of Reiki is always evolving, and there may be more styles, but I can share with you only about the two styles that I have experienced and practice, Usui and Celtic.
Usui Reiki was founded by Japanese Buddhist, Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan, around 1922. This style uses frequencies of energy from the ‘Sky’ or cosmic universe. It is the most common form of Reiki found in North America, and it was introduced to the western world, by a female master, named Hawayo Takata, in the early 1970’s.
Celtic Reiki is a newer style which was founded in Europe around 1998, by a British Therapist and Usui Reiki Master, Martyn Pentecost. It is based on ancient Celtic information and uses frequencies of energy that come from the Earth.
I have noticed in my learning and practice that these types of energies can feel different and have different effects and benefits as well.
Usui can feel very strong and fast. It is more masculine or ‘yang’. It works exceptionally well for instant pain relief and clearing the energy system. The cosmic sky energies flow automatically to wherever they need to go, for the highest good of the client.
Celtic Reiki can feel a bit softer. It is by nature, more ‘yin’ or feminine. In each Celtic treatment, a new frequency is created, to assist that client with their specific goals. It is excellent for treating emotional issues such as depression and anxiety.
I have found that using both Usui and Celtic together, in combination treatments; can have profound, lasting and transformational effects.
Both a hug and a Reiki treatment can improve a person’s life situation instantly. Also, both hugs and Reiki work best when permission is given first and the recipient is open to accepting and integrating benefits from the exchange.
Both a hug and a Reiki treatment can improve a person’s life situation instantly. Also, both hugs and Reiki work best when permission is given first and the recipient is open to accepting and integrating benefits from the exchange.
Although practitioners of Reiki are using source energy, rather than their own, there is still an interaction of the two peoples energy fields, in treatments. Differences in treatments between two practitioners of the same style can be attributed to many factors including; which levels of learning and attunement (Level 1, Level 2 or Master Level) they have reached and how many years that they have been practicing, as well as the natural differences in their own personal energetic vibrations.
There are now over two million Reiki practitioners of the Usui style alone. I would venture to guess, due to the beautiful uniqueness of each person on this planet, that there are infinite different flavours available with regards to the healing that one can receive, from connecting with others energetically, through both hugs and Reiki!

Tapping to your own rhythm with Care Hudson

By: Care Hudson
My personal interest in tapping was sparked in 2005, through practising learning about and then teaching Energy Yoga classes, through the Korean style, of Dahn Yoga. In class, the instructors would lead students through a full body tap down technique, as part of the warm-up which taps all of the major chakras and energy points, joints and organs, along specific paths on the body, in accordance with optimal meridian channel flow.
My first thoughts about tapping were, “What are these crazy people doing???” To my serious ego at the time, it looked silly and I felt ridiculous, tapping my body in front of a large group of people... It was hard to let go and give myself the permission to tap with freedom and love, for my own body’s benefits. After a few weeks though, the awkwardness passed and I eventually began to tap sincerely and with loving intentions for my healing. I began to really embrace tapping and started to tap down my body in the morning at home to a couple of songs on the radio every morning.
That summer, I lost almost every ounce of my body fat. I slowed down a bit, on tapping after that!
Later, I became a yoga instructor and incorporated tapping into all of my classes. I experienced the joy and personal benefits of doing full-body tap downs several times a week, for several years. Some of the effects that I personally experienced through my practice of energy yoga and tapping were; the disappearance of cellulite, more expendable energy during the day and the development of a stronger immune system.
I was so impressed by the benefits of tapping that I was experiencing, that I began researching it online and came across EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique. Within this system, personal issues are explored and released, in a focused manner. EFT combines exploring emotional issues, obstacles and fears and responding with affirmations of love and acceptance, while tapping yourself, along certain specific energy points on your face, arms, hands and chest. I enjoyed learning about EFT although I found it to be somewhat repetitive, as I was used to the enjoyment of tapping energy points on my whole body, from my head to my toes.
However, I did try incorporating more personal affirmations while tapping, and experienced amazing results. I would use simple statements, such as “I am immune,” with myself and in my classes. I noticed that while I was practising this regularly, I did not get sick, even when surrounded by co-worker with colds and flus. I did not visit a doctor or even get so much as a headache, for years.
I also practised an affirmation of; “I am one with nature” intensely, which completely cured my previously severe allergies to ragweed and grass, in one season. Our bodies are programmed to be able to heal themselves. All of the cells in your body ideally want to be in a healthy state of balance. Tapping works by bringing your mind’s focus, your ki energy, and your physical blood directly to the area that is being stimulated through the tapping vibrations. When you are bringing all of that loving awareness to your body’s parts, your cells and organs become awakened and their natural re-action is to get themselves into healthy balance. Tapping in the morning can awaken the physical and energy bodies, leaving you feeling mentally fresh and focused, it can kick-start your metabolism and greatly improve blood circulation as well.
Tapping can also improve self-esteem and feelings of self-worth, as it provides us with the perfect opportunity to focus consciously on feeling and sending love to different areas of our physical being.
Korean Energy Yoga (www.dahnyoga.com) and EFT are wonderful techniques which have both provided us with a lot of great information and research about the benefits of tapping. You can find information and videos online about both, but I wish to express here that there is no right or wrong way to tap. Use your intuition as your guide, regarding where your body wants to be tapped and for how long. You will find your own way, that works best for you.
It can take 5-10 mins (or more, or less) to do a full body tap down. You can want to cup your palms rather than leaving them flat, which would feel more like slapping. Start tapping slowly and lightly. It should feel pretty good, it shouldn't hurt. Go ahead and consciously exhale stagnant energy with your breath. Let the stress and tension drop from your body into the Earth, through your grounded feet. Inhale fresh breath while sending loving intentions to each part that you are tapping. After you stop, it feels nice to brush over the areas that you have tapped with your palms.
You can intensify your tapping practice by exploring emotions and issues that come up, sending loving intentions, practising affirmations or even chanting a mantra, out loud while tapping, which will also give you the benefit of the sound vibration opening up your throat chakra. It is great to tap along with a rhythm or drum beat, but any kind of your favourite music, will be perfect.
Pregnant women should not necessarily tap a growing baby, but gentle rubbing of the abdomen, can have similar benefits, in terms of bringing blood and focused energy flow to the area. If you have a serious medical condition, please check in with your trusted healthcare professional, before beginning a tapping practice. I hope that you will give it a try. When practised regularly, alone or in combination with other holistic practices, it can absolutely change your life. Plus, it is fun and it feels so good!
