Food Medicine: Balancing the Body & Chakras with FOOD

In past articles, we have discussed a variety of, well, off the wall ways in which one can balance the energy centers in the body like with sound, colour or crystals. However, this is the most natural, tastiest and easiest modality by far, because everyone can do it!!!

FOOD, we all need it, we all eat it, so why not HEAL with it!?

Our bodies are built of an intricately genius mosaic of circulatory, sensory, digestive, reproductive, respiratory and secretion systems. There just so happens to be six corresponding chakras for these bodily functions, with one chakra linking to our brain and connection to the source of all that is. Moreover, each of the seven chakras connects with a specific gland too, plus colour and sound!  Coincidence? I think not, by now, it is fairly obvious that there is no doubt, a link between our physical  bodies and the energetic value of all that we encounter in this world.

Remember that our chakras are like wheels, spinning energy through our bodies, like batteries in the form of a complex system in our body know anatomically as plexuses. Each of these seven main energy centres within the body, deliver our life force energy, ki, prana, chi, you get the idea… For this reason, when we are “off” energetically, or in a negative state of any kind, especially over longer periods of time, we experience or develop specific health issues. These issues are also known as chakra blockages.

Logically and intuitively, that’s right both the left and right brain can agree that, it makes sense that the colour of our foods are a reflection of the light vibration carried from the pure white light of the Sun. Each colour has a specific energy that nourishes its corresponding chakra. Coincidentally, again, we find that the vitamins and healthful enzymes associated with these foods (by colour and chakra), also just happen to be exactly what one would need to physically heal the health issue at hand! Gotta love this grand design by what some Archaics still call a haphazard Universe!!!

Now on to yummy part!! A few pointers, it’s important to keep your meals rockin’ the whole rainbow, even if you are struggling with only one specific issue. This helps maintain all the chakras, so nothing gets left out. Now obviously some of the colours may be harder to include regularly, but you can look to your snacks to nurture the chakras left out at meal time. Now, if you are dealing with some specific blockages that are affecting your health, there are a few methods you can apply to your food. Try including one healthful snack a date that is solely comprised of the colour you need or heavy up the colour you need when plating your meal. You can also colour charge your food, for example you could sit a carrot or a glass of water on an orange coaster or in an orange container, or under and orange light or put carnelian or orange quartz with it, leaving it to absorb the colour frequency for a few hours before consuming, like chromatherapy for your food! The section below runs you through each Chakra and its corresponding organ, gland, colour and food; so you can eat your way into balance and good health.

1st Chakra: The Root Chakra - Red

Physical: The organs affected are the large intestine and the rectum. It also influences the function of the kidneys and governs the adrenal gland. This chakra is located at the tip of our coccyx to perineum.

Energy: This chakra is the foundation of our grounding and our deep connection to the earth. It deals with our survival necessities like shelter, security, safety and even our abundance as it affects our livelihood.

Food Medicine: Root vegetables carry the Earth’s vibrations because they grow within the Earth, and therefore contain the essence that the Root Chakra thrives off of. Root vegetables like beets, rutabaga, or parsnips can be very grounding, but any red veggies and fruits, like red berries, apples, cherries, pomegranates, also support the first chakra. Proteins like red meats or beans can also be associated with this chakra too.

2nd Chakra: The Sacral Chakra - Orange

Physical: Located three fingers below the naval, this chakra governs the reproductive system, the urinary bladder, the kidneys, the ovaries and the testicles.

Energy: The sacral chakra is the womb of creativity, abundance and sexuality. It governs our relationships and emotions, since it cradles our creative force, our expressions of sensuality and sexuality. Through this chakra we connect to the physical world with our desires, feelings and sensory perception.

Food Medicine: Generally most tropical or exotic fruits, seeds and nuts, as they mimic reproductive form and therefore carry the same vibrational resonance that a healthy sacral chakra thrives off of. Of course, orange foods like tangerines, pumpkin, cantaloupe, persimmons, sweet potatoes, carrots. Due to its close relationship with the kidneys and our emotions it is associated with the water element. So it is best to keep fully hydrated, remember we breathe out one full litre of water vapour in our sleep, imagine how much you breath out when you are active. For this reason, daily pure water intake should at least be three litres.

3rd Chakra: The Solar Plexus Chakra - Yellow

Physical: Connects with our transformative function in the body; our digestive system comprised of the liver, spleen, small intestine, gall bladder, stomach and pancreas. This chakra is located at the lower part of the sternum, the top of the abdomen.

Energy: This chakra relates to our self-confidence, our will power, identity and self-esteem. The solar plexus is the throne of our personal power, our motivation and our ambitions.

Food Medicine: This is the most commonly off balanced chakra. If your digestive is off, there is usually a domino effect of imbalances that follow. To empower yourself, realize the power in choice and avoid looking outward for acceptance, avoid procrastination,  and eat  yellow fruits and veggies like yellow beets, squash, golden pears, bananas, yellow plums, yellow peppers etc. With this chakra in particular it is important to avoid any processed foods, GMO’s, refined foods like white sugar can be the digestive system’s worst enemy. Complex carbs, like brown rice, spelt, rolled oats are a plus. Also physical activity it is extremely important since it tends to get things moving whether they want to or not.

4th Chakra: The Heart Chakra – Green

Physical: This chakra’s name says it all; related to the heart, the thymus, and the arms. It is located in the centre of our chest.

Energy: The heart chakra links us to our capacity to love and is the seat of compassion. Love is Light, PURE LIGHT in fact; this is what nourishes our soul and therefore all of our chakras. Through Love anything is possible, including transformational healing for one self and all that is. Above all, Love is the most nourishing form of energy; this is why the heart has the ability to balance all the other chakras with its expression of love.

Food Medicine: Mom always said “Eat Your Greens!” Broccoli, peas, kale, asparagus, spinach, fiddleheads, chard, and pretty well all leafy greens provide a perfect source of balance for this chakra (and many others). Just like love, if it’s good for the heart, green are good for all our chakras. Instantly we know greens are a necessary for our digestion to keep regular and to provide brain fueled nutrients. We spoke earlier about charging your food and water in colour prior to consumption, but what about cooking with love? That’s why my Mom makes the best soup, she it infuses with love for me; she stirs it up from scratch because I caught a cold and she wants to me to feel better. Her intent is the key and that’s why that soup is so tasty, it hits the spot every time because it is made with Love!  This vibration nourishes the body, but also the soul by balancing all of the chakras. Next time, you are preparing a meal, meditate on it, pray on it, thank it, but most importantly, always season it with Love!

5th Chakra: The Throat Chakra – Sky Blue

Physical: this chakra presides over the sensory organs of the body, tongue, lips, ears, nose, mouth, larynx and pharynx. It plays a very important role in our thyroid and affects our metabolic condition.

Energy: This chakra links the heart with the mind, it is the seed of expression and where we house our truth. In good balance, our expressive and communicative abilities are clear and confident. We are able to naturally articulate our thoughts, feelings and emotions through sound in a way that is both genuine and true.

Food Medicine:  Since most foods aren’t naturally blue, this particular chakra is easier satisfied with generous and frequents snacks like blue potatoes, blueberries and blue raspberries. Foods that are just full of good stuff for this chakra, but aren’t blue are kelp, seaweed, fresh fish, artichokes, pineapple, leafy greens, cashews, shellfish, oysters, clams, garlic, onion, coconut oil, brazil nuts, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, chia seeds, turkey. Eggs are also very good for this chakra, and you can always hard boil them and dye them blue, or any colour for any chakra. Plus you could always pull out the crayons and draw some hearts on them too, remember Love your Food!

6th Chakra: The Third Eye (Forehead) Chakra – Indigo Blue

Physical: The third eye chakra governs the pineal gland, eyes, nose, and face. With the crown chakra it maps the biblical referenced paradise, the land of milk and honey. Since it truly does dictate how we feel; commanding our hormones and secretion functions through the pineal gland (secretes a milky white fluid called Serotonin) which affects our mood, energy levels and temperament. The third eye chakra reigns over the eyes and the neurotransmitters in the brain.

Energy: The third eye chakra is our intuitive or psychic center. It is our inner eye and higher wisdom, sometimes referred to as the all-seeing eye, it is the window of our "perception". With the ego integrated, one can tap in to the consciousness of all that is through wheel within the eye of Love’s truth. When in balance, the third eye chakra lights the path of internal visions and dreams with an adept realization of spiritual guidance, intuition, inspiration and awareness.

Food Medicine: Foods like purple or blue potatoes, blackberries, blueberries, purple grapes. However, since it is the Third Eye, why not exercise this muscle with your food? Try an eating meditation, essentially take a 3 minutes to eat one piece of food, like an apple. Connect with it, focus on only it, smell it, feel it, essentially nourishes all the sense you can before you even bite into it, then when you do explore the ways in which it feel as you eat, and ways to eat it or it chew it differently, then express gratitude for the lifeforce exchanged to you in this simple act. Technically, that apple is alive until you finish eating it, Kirlian imaging photography can produce images of an apple’s magnetic field which is proof of its’ lifeforce energy, the same as a living animal or human. So say thank you, this is what “Grace Before Meals” is really all about, rub a dub, dub… clean out your third eye by giving thanks to your grub. Up next pay attention to how you feel, how your body responds to what it is eating, you can even use this meditation to discover what foods you may be intolerant to.

7th Chakra: The Crown Chakra - Violet

Physical: The crown chakra is associated with the pituitary gland. Remember the land of milk and honey, well this is the honey pot, which secrete a yellowish, golden fluid called Aspartic Acid or DMT. This dictates our sleep/wake cycles and it plays a partner role to the pineal gland, a small endocrine gland located in the brain. However, this chakra is related to the whole being, it crowns us and our connection to all that is. It is our master chakra, our halo, yes we all have one!

Energy: The crown chakra is our connection to our higher self, our spirituality, and whatever we feel connected to as the source of all that is.  This chakra infuses the body with vital life force, allowing us to function as a divine creature. Just as the root chakra connects us to the Earth, the crown chakra connects us to the Heavens. It is the grand architect over the entire body, ruling the central nervous system, the energy column of the spine. In scientific terms energy healing is referred to as Epigenetics. This refers to what crowns the body and is the new science that is overtaking medicine. It explains the high success rates of a variety of energy healing modalities, the placebo effect and spontaneous miracle healings which are occurring at higher and higher rates in the past ten years. The key to these healings; is the power of belief, aka mind over matter, put simply; blind faith.

Food Medicine: Plums, eggplant, chokeberries, black figs, boysenberries, purple and black grapes, can nourish this chakra. As stated, the crown chakra is unique, more definitively in some ways more "spirit" than "matter." Accordingly, this chakra blossoms with gratitude from any nourishment that comes from sunlight and love, you can try sun-eating or eat in the sun!

Crystal Healing with the 7 Chakras

All my life, I have been drawn by a mysterious pull towards rocks, crystals and gemstones. As a kid, I would spend hours collecting pretty pebbles the tide would wash up. As an adult, I still wind up filling all my pockets with rocks while out on a hike, in fact my hike ends up on the back burner, while, I putz about into a timewarp looking for gemmy treasures. What's more, I often find stones that geologically shouldn't exist in the locales where I discover them. So I've always considered them little gifts from the Universe. No doubt, my life would lead me down a rabbit hole or two... hundred, and I would begin to grasp the truly profound sentient relationship between man and minerals.

Okay, so gemstones are sparkly and pretty and they make great jewellery and collectibles, always going up in value and that could be reason enough to love them. For most, that's about it when they look at quartz cluster or jade pendant, but did you know that all stones have a magnetic field and most quartz crystalline structured stones conduct piezoelectricity? For this reason, crystals and gemstones have been used as an alternative healing modality dating back to the dawn of mankind.

Since, each and every different variety of crystal or stone has a unique magnetic field that it resonates to, specific attributes and certain characteristics can be identified by those sensitive to their energy. This can make some stones better than others when specific targets intended. Many believe that by wearing or carrying specific gemstones and crystals they can gain courage, protection, healing, energy or relaxation etc. In the same turn bringing crystals into your home and garden can attract the vibrations specific to them into the household. Crystals can be used to charge water or make elixirs, but most importantly they can be used for personal healing.

Many of the vibrational characteristics associated with some crystals parallel the healthy balanced attributes of each chakra (anatomically known as the body's plexus nerve bundles). The following section will outline which crystals can be used for healing or powering up each individual chakra. When using crystals for healing, the more contact you have with them the more effective the treatment will be. It is best to carry them in your pocket, put them under you pillow or on your bedside table at night. If you meditate you can hold them in you palms or place them on the energy centres in your body.

The Destiny in your name!

By Amber Colbear

Last issue, we briefly explored the numerations behind the Expression/Destiny Number found in the Numerology of your Name (reference the example to the right for a refresher on finding your number).

Your Expression number uncovers your physical and mental structure, the proclivity, direction or goal in this life. This number is also often referred to as our Destiny. Since, it embodies a lifelong urge it also drives the expression of your Life’s aim.

It’s kind of like the Cole’s Notes on your developmental growth.

Accordingly, the Expression number articulates your inner goal, the person you ambition to be. It also reveals the talents, abilities, strengths and weaknesses that we packed in our karma suitcase for this life.  If you are familiar with the concept and philosophy of reincarnation; the vibrational resonance of your whole name can be understood as the sum total of your personal evolution, experiential wisdom, talents, debts, traumas, shortcomings and accomplishments amassed over several life times.

Each and every experience, no matter how big, small, tedious, smooth, disastrous or fantastical are all part of your evolutionary path which shapes your development; forming your current state of being, in other words— your own unique energy signature. After all, true knowledge cannot be acquired by placing your nose in a book - but by jumping in with both feet, wet and wild with the wiles and wisdom of experience.

By reading the appropriate Expression/Destiny number that corresponds to your Name below, you will begin to conceptualize a clearer understanding of your own personal life force and the positive and negative potentials inherent in your being. It is important to realize that there are five core numbers, much like building blocks in our numerology profile. Each core number’s temperament will either enhance or neutralize the negative or positive potentials inherent in each core number.

It would be advantageous to seek out these numbers to gain full insight into your Expression/Destiny number. Traditionally, one would seek out a Numerologist, but with the advent of the internet, a number of comprehensive online websites can easily walk you through the basics for free!

Currently, Gusto Readers will have the exclusive opportunity to receive two free mini numerology reports by Liking the Elemental Arts Facebook Page

ONES, you are the movers and shakers, the independently fierce go-getters leading the pack! Self-reliant and wilful, you need freedom to create your own ideas and make your own decisions, this can sometimes lead you to be closed off to other’s ideas, but that is because you are a pioneer at heart. A lot of Ones tend to be self-made, activists, politicians, successful businessmen, inventors and entrepreneurs who are quite opinionated and inclined to be very influential to those around them.

However, the exact opposite is true as well; the strong personality of the Ones can also repel others as instantly as they can inspire  an entire stadium. Ones like the path less travelled and carry great convictions, this increases their chance at success in life. However, there is a tendency to become self-centric and domineering, in some cases even a bully. Since, you drive yourself with such a high set of standards, you must be careful not to be highly critical of others or hold them accountable to your principles, as this may lead to alienation from friends or family.

Avoid being stubborn, rigid, and too set in your way, as this can also be a downfall in your interpersonal relationships. Rather use your great perseverance for balance and compassion.

TWOS, you are the highly intuitive, tactfully refined, persuasive and persevering partners in crime we all love to have by our side! Twos truly possess a knack for working with others; they are the counsellors, diplomats, mediators, peacekeepers, advisors and our confidantes because they have an adept insight into the temperaments and circumstances of others with an air of sage wisdom for those who seek it. Twos are able to pull the best of those around them, supporting the highest potential of others.

For this reason, Twos will do well in any field that allows them to work with others, as their abilities are best expressed in this forum. For the same reason, Twos execute better in a partnership and most prefer it to a leadership role. It’s not that Twos aren’t very equipped leaders or able to work independently, it’s that they prefer companionship and the symbiotic relationship that forms when one is in balance with the other, unified towards a common goal.

However, as they say your greatest strength is also your greatest weakness, both equal and opposite, one coin: twos sides. The acute sensitivity of the Twos also makes them quite vulnerable and thrown off by any harsh word, dirty look, conflict and even hostile conditions between others close to them. While others would shrug off such events, the Twos will become anxious and suffer the unrest, as if their survival were at risk. Twos are the engine in the stock car, the power behind the throne, the push-up bra, but they also never quite get the credit they deserve, if it at all, which can be frustrating.  However, Twos tend to be naturally modest and find satisfaction in the vital role they provided, this is a lesson they must learn in this lifetime. If you are looking for Marriage, find yourself a Two, they are giving, thoughtful and passionate lovers that make for outstanding marriage partners and they are usually quite musical too!

THREES, you are the happy go lucky creative snake charmers of the arts, rich with imagination and spirit; you socialites bounce with creativity and inspire most of those around you knowingly or not!  Three is the number of self-expression, but take caution not to scatter your talents. Threes often lack discipline and order, their greatest hurdle will be to concentrate and focus. They do well with the support and assistance of friends and family, which their inspirational talents naturally attract. You have a great deal of potential in the arts and any avenues that entail creative and unconventional problem-solving. You have the innate ability to think abstractly seeing life in grand masterpieces, rather than words. Your artistic abilities may be latent and come to fruition later in life. Since, creativity is a delicate faculty that is somewhat suppressed in childhood.

Threes need to muster their confidence in order to reveal and grow their ideas and creative pursuits, this is their lesson. If they lack this poise they may scatter their talents in trivial pursuits. Threes you truly are capable of attaining a very, very high level of excellence in this lifetime. The problem for you lies within this immense potential, you will likely be very adept at many or all of the creative skill sets, naturally you will want to go in all directions at once.

To overcome this, limit your field of vision and select only a few targets at a time, then helix your energies into a single blitzkrieg bop.  Focus your life; choose what you love the most (right now), and commit to it. Once, you have completed the endeavour, pick a new one, just don’t keeping banging your head against a wall trying do it all at once, you’ll never get anything done! And that will land you in a rut; intolerant, moody, jealous, introverted, cynical, sarcastic, emotionally sensitive, even finding criticism from others when none is intended. These are all attributes that contribute to a loss of direction and stagnation for a Three. However, if you focus your vast creative talents you will no doubt achieve high degrees of success, romance, happiness and acclaim.

FOURS, you are doers, the builders, the managers, organizers, enterprisers, accountants, lawyers, facilitators… you know, the people who git’r done! You are the foundation for which dreams are built from, and you take your obligations seriously to both family and projects; always seeing things through. Fours possess a highly developed sense of structure, however, this can at times lead to inflexibility and it is important to be able to balance both qualities. Fours and Threes would do well as friends and could teach each other a thing or too. Since the greatest challenge for you Fours, is to throw caution to the wind and let your imagination soar free, while, the Threes could use some of your order and focus!

At times your views can be stubborn and rigid overruling good sense and compassion. Fours often can become workaholics and tend to fall into ruts from time to time, feeling dull, too serious or frustrated by their rate of progress. While, Fours can lay great plans, they are not risk-takers or imaginative game wagers; as a result their progress climbs at slower rate than those who are jumping off cliffs. However, the Four always gets there; slow and steady always finishes the race. Fours are great with money, and they like to save it, working long and hard at their nest egg goals with great stamina and persistence. This is why Fours are the rock and roots of our world.

FIVES, fun-loving, fresh, freewheeling, freedom seekers… You Fives love, love, love, your Freedom! You are a fish out of the water without it, a beached whale even. If you are not free, it’s a— to be or not be mind set for you. Your very existence rests upon it. Remarkably adaptable, you thrive on change, adventure, and excitement, you desire the whole world, free to go and do as you please; explore and dare the unknown. It is the atmosphere essential to nurturing your many talents. With that said, while the allure of the unknown entices you, the routine of life, is a nightmare for you. For a Five; being stuck in the humdrum can lead to great despair and depression. Since Fives abhor orderliness they tend to ignore their natural limits both physically through over-indulgence in food, alcohol, sex and drugs and in some cases socially, many Fives fail to respect common boundaries of others.

Fives are fast talkers, they too can charm you into anything, and they truly have a gift for public speaking, which is why they make great lawyers, politicians, public relations officers, activists, and salesmen. With that said, they also need to learn when to remain silent; the freedom to speak does not mean you always need to be. In order to be successful, a Five must find their grounding, a foundation and focus. In relationships, Fives have a strong sex drive and fall in and out of love easily and frequently.

Fostering an emotionally mature and committed relationship will satisfy the Fives most carnal needs, however most flee from it believing it will imply restrictions on their freedom when it may in fact provide a greater sense of release. The key to the success in every avenue of life for a Five is to set healthy limits, finish what you start and through self-discipline you will realize greater freedom.

SIXES, where would we be without you!? The Sixes are the eternal caregivers,
the “moms” and “dads” who always put the needs of others before their own. Responsible, dutiful and trustworthy with a high repute for justice and honour, are the mainstay characteristics of the admirable Six. You are inclined to counsel others and work in the healing field. Sixes are also naturally artistic, sometimes latent, mostly due to choices made out of sacrifice, but overall beauty and harmony are priorities too.

Sixes crave nature and generally have a green thumb. Animals and children are particularly attracted to those with the Six vibration, then again Sixes are just as attracted to animals and children too. They dream of building their family and when the day finally comes that they do, it truly is a dream come true for the Six. However, when family or close relationships falter; Sixes must guard against a tendency to become intrusive, oppressive, pushy, argumentative or underhanded. Sixes make exceptional teachers, social workers, psychologist, veterinarians, gardeners, artists, business men and farmers alike. Sixes are idealists; their home is where the heart is.

SEVENS, your mind moves with a limitless appetite for answers to life’s big questions. You are the researcher, the educator, the riddler, the academic, the philosopher; you thirst for knowledge and possess persistence and precision in your quest for truth. Your refined mind offers insight into “the veil” or mysteries of our existence.  You are often sought out for your specialized knowledge. It is this keen insight that enables you to find peace within. For most sevens meditation comes easy, as they often find themselves to be self-introspective naturally anyway. It is in this place, Sevens can retreat to restore their energies, lick their wounds and bounce back.  It is important for Sevens to have “me” time on demand. Too much social interaction can be stressful.  Unless your core numbers are balanced by extrovert characteristics (found in numbers 1, 3, 5, and 8), you may tend to pull deeply within yourself, even cutting yourself off from others to an extreme introversion at times.

The general lack of knowledge among your peers at times can be frustrating for you; you like curious inquisitive minds and those that yield a humdrum buzz bore you. This can fuel harsh criticism and cynicism towards others and life in general. When a Seven’s darker characteristics surface, they can be unfaithful, secretive, dishonest, and harsh, but this can be offset through meditation and self-contemplation. Sevens are often found as philosophers, researchers, inventors, priests, technicians, scholars, analysts, investigators, lawyers, bankers, theologians.

EIGHTS, you are the upright symbol of infinity, remember good ol’ Buzz Light year, to an infinity and beyond!? That says it all!  You have the Duracell bunny power pack potential to achieve cosmic greatness.  Whichever, whatever endeavour you engage, you aim to be the best and most successful in your field.  Generally, Eights have an inborn talent for ninja kicking down any obstacle in their path, money and power await you if you willing to persevere with discipline. You understand the bigger picture and have a knack for proficiency and problem solving, which also makes you a great leader and delegator, but you tend to be a “my way or the highway” kind of trailblazer. Your main challenge is to balance your higher ideals and your comprehension of the hard realities (aka the continual ups and downs that life on Earth seems to be plagued with). Life will probably test you many times with what seems to be impossible odds.

You keep getting kicked down, but you also keep getting back up and eventually you will have that which you seek. Ultimately, victory always falls to you. In the grand blueprints, these proverbial ups and downs are simply opportunities for you to learn how to use your personal power during dark days. Without such experiences you would never discover how much power lies within you. An Eights’ key to success lies within the balance of spiritualism and materialism. The pitfalls of the Eight, lie within excessive ambition and greed, taking more than giving, again, it is about balance. You can achieve great abundance, but it must be honourable and you must give just as equally to maintain what you receive. Eights make great bankers, CEOS, negotiators, entrepreneurs, detectives, collectors, builders, engineers, promoters, pilots, gamblers, managers.

NINES, alas the Humanitarians, we might have blown ourselves up a long time ago if not for you! Nines are the extremely idealistic, self-sacrificing, do-gooders, visionaries, martyrs and leaders of the masses. Nines are tremendously compassionate and often are drawn to those who need a good degree of help. For this reason, a lot of nines end up in vocations like nurses, healers, motivational speakers, social workers, teachers, environmentalist, spiritualists, self-help coaches. Nines hope to transform the world through love. A Nine is most fulfilled when they give of themselves with no promise of return. If a Nine is not satisfying this urge, they can begin to feel almost soulless and empty.

Only when they learn the value in giving of ones’ self totally, will they feel true satisfaction. What’s more this awareness amplifies the law of attraction, and abundance undoubtedly follows a Nine who gives selflessly. Nines are philanthropists, even if they were to strike it rich and they often do, they use what money they acquire to further their humanitarian causes. If they harness their positive potential, they will be quite well looked after and often make their money in strange and unusual ways; utilizing chance and a variety of artistic skills intrinsic with the expression of the 3’s, 6’s, and 9’s. Nines you are called upon often to make sacrifices, which are in direct conflict with your ego. It is important to understand that Nines are in a very unique place. Unlike other numbers, Nines are in what could be considered the TSN Turning Point; they have the opportunity to tie up loose ends and complete a major life lesson carried through over several past lives.

The Nine is the completion of a cycle and a block of learning; it also marks the beginning of another evolutionary cycle. However, Nines need to guard against their tendency to drive themselves with harsh self-criticism towards an unattainable perfection. They need to take time to acknowledge their accomplishments, rather than jump to the next rescue or humanitarian effort. Unfortunately, Nines also have to be more discerning with others. They often only see the best in people; it is an unshakeable quality inherent among all nines, but they often end up getting taken advantage of or exploited for their giving nature. Though even in such circumstances, Nines find solace in the experiential wisdom of all that is, good and bad, it is only a choice in perspective.

Ultimately, Nines know they are both one in the same, as above, so below, and so they remain happiest in service, helping to advance the human race, even, if others believe their path to be futile, they admirably remain altruistic at heart.

The Numbers In Your Name

By: Amber Colbear

http://static.ddmcdn.com/gif/numerology-7.jpg
Numbers don’t just follow us around on clocks and tickets; they like to be a lot more up close and personal than that. Numbers speak to us not only through our environment and frequency, but also through our names.

Using an ancient sacred science known as Numerology which dates back several thousand years, we are able to grasp the mysterious relationship and cosmic vibration between numbers, living things and physical objects.

Numbers employed in this fashion serve as one of the five pure languages in which Energy can communicate or create expressions. Just like the sound of your name produces a tonal vibration; these cosmic vibrations can be characterized and given quality through an expression of numbers.

Remember, most parents name their children based on how they feel about the child.  Very often parents will have names picked out when the baby is born, and they completely change the name because the baby didn’t look like a “Mary”. Reasonably speaking, let’s be real, most babies look the same; super cute, balding, wrinkly, and well really cute! But how they look changes at light speed. It’s not that the baby didn’t look like a Mary, as much as she felt like a Jenny. Our names hold our cosmic stardust, our essence, our potentials and our blueprints to the landscape we will adventure on in this life.

Accordingly, each letter in the alphabet has a numeric value. The sum of the letters in the name and birthdate employed in a series of formulas produces an interrelation of vibrations that shed light on our character, life’s purpose, what drives us, what frustrates us, what motivates us, where our talents lie and beyond.

Let’s begin with your full name as it appears on your birth certificate. Using the chart provided, assign the correlating number to each letter in your name and then begin the simple addition of each number, once you have added all the numbers together. If your final result is a double digit, add both numbers within it, until you have returned to a single digit. See example!

Once  you have combined all these letters and arrived at your final number, you are looking at  your Expression/Destiny number. This core element depicts the tasks that you will most likely strive to achieve in this lifetime. It also symbolizes the opportunities and potentials you have available to you.

Sometimes, the aspects of the Destiny Number may be demanding, but it is your purpose, your mission. It is what drives you most and it is your field of infinite opportunity, if you harness your higher potential.  This number could be more accurately defined as what we aspire to become in this life. If we were only to add up the vowels, we would have the Soul Urge/Heart’s Desire number and the consonants would provide us with our Personality number.

So what’s in your name and what’s in this number? Next issue, we will discuss in deeper length and greater detail what each number means when it appears as your Expression/Destiny number. However, so you’re not left hangin’ entirely -  here’s a sneak peek at each number’s positive and negative qualities.

1 (+) Independent, pioneer, leader,  individualistic, willful, inventive, courageous (-) Dominating, impulsiveness, egotistic, boastfulness, willfulness, overly aggressive.

2 (+) Flexible, diplomatic, cooperative, intuitive understanding of  others, partner, mediator, modest, sincere, spiritually influenced (-) Shy, overly sensitive, fear, self-consciousness, depression.

3 (+) Optimistic, creative, social, imaginative, many artistic gifts, insightful, fun-loving. (-) Self-centered, scattered, moodiness, arrogant, exaggeration, unfinished projects, lack of focus.

4 (+) Order and values, organized, practical, scientific, attention to detail, management skills (-) stubborn, opinionated, delayed in action, overly serious, argumentative, lack of imagination.

5 (+) Constructive freedom, visionary, versatile, action oriented, curious, adventurer. (-) Impatience, restless, discontent, lacks application, dissatisfaction, hasty decisions.

6 (+) Responsible, sympathetic, loyal, home & family driven, humanitarian, artistic, nurturing, balanced. (-) Stubborn, self-righteous, domineering, meddling, egotistical, outspoken.

7 (+) Knowledge seeker, scientific, inventive, meditative, perfectionist, solidarity, charming. (-) Sarcastic, isolated, inflexible, stubborn, suspicious.

8 (+) Political and executive business skills, decisive, power, commanding, recognition, authority. (-) Overly materialistic, workaholic, overly ambitious, lacks humanitarianism, poor money managing, dominating.

9 (+) Humanitarian, giving, selfless, sacrificing, creative, artistic and writing talents. (-) Moodiness, selfishness, self-adulation, possessiveness, careless finances, attention seeking.

Numbers speak and sometimes stalk!

By: Amber Colbear

A, B, C, 1, 2, 3… Numbers are the language of Energy! They are used to communicate the dimensional frame work of our Universe. With a quantum understanding of Numbers, we gain insight into building our physical foundation within the limitless field of pure potentiality.

Each number, 1-9 carries within it, its own vibration, its own set of qualities both equal and opposite, negative and positive. It is the base language from which All That it Is comes from. Numbers can serve as great allies, providing messages when they appear, particularly in patterns.

This is what pulled me into the world of Numbers, I was being stalked by Elevens, not just on the clock, but on concert tickets, sections, seats, license plates, movie stubs, bus passes, waiting lines, grocery receipts, my phone call durations, pretty much in any random or obvious way, there she was, another Eleven staring down my way. I couldn’t escape those Elevens if I tried, and I’m not talking a few times a day, I’m talking Elevens popping by a couple times an hour, sometimes more, getting’ up all in my face… distracting me.

It became slightly frustrating; the frequency, in which I was experiencing the Eleven, was well beyond the definition of coincidence, it was a pattern and even my friends were beginning to notice my strange Eleven phenomena.

Finally, a lovely acupuncturist I was visiting would shed some light on the situation and she pointed me off to Numerology. Dr.H who was highly spiritual woman in her own right, said that people that are on Eleven wavelengths generally have Elevens in their core numerology profile and that it was a master number and should not be ignored.
She also said that many books had been written about numbers and their connection to our awakening; considered to be a key to enlightenment or a wakeup call!

She didn’t say much more, but that was all she needed to say. Off I went and jumped into a wormhole. I was utterly consumed with fascination for this concept of Number Speak and Numerology.

Turns out I carry two Elevens in my core numerology profile. That was the first rub, the second was that I would experience my first shift in consciousness. As I began to work with the numbers, I didn’t just see them, I began to hear them, to know them, to feel them, and to grasp them inside each of us, our world is literally built and expressed in numbers!

At last, I was no longer pursued by the Eleven, but not before she could introduce me to her other hot stalker friend, number 22, a builder! All joking aside, what I experienced as I worked with this sacred science is that numbers evolve with us.

They do speak to us and if we listen and integrate their messages, we will not only see more numbers, as I certainly cease to, but we will also have a greater understanding for our own unique energy potential and our personal power within it.

There are numbers in all of us and with them they carry vibrations that resonate into sound, like the sound of our names. What is a name? What’s in a name? Numbers! Colour your healing - by Amber Colbear

By Amber Colbear

COLOUR! COLOUR! COLOUR! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!

For me they are one in the same, because I Love Colour! My wardrobe looks like a ménage of rainbows made off like spring rabbits in my closet, really. I have always been attracted to colour, getting lost in the vivid hues, sipping and slipping in between the rays that create this world of white light. First in my closet, then on my walls and because I couldn’t get enough; I had to draw, paint, shade, throw and smudge colour across every medium I could get my little art addicted fingers into. My poor mother was gifted a ‘crayon meets wall’ Picasso and I was walking before age one!!

It is no wonder that years later, I would discover our powerful relationship with colour. Yet, still have issues packing an overnight bag and not three rainbows from my closet. I struggle packing clothes for tomorrow because I only know what I want to wear right NOW. The key is that I choose the colours I wear, based on HOW I FEEL, presently, just like I paint. Fortunately, our instincts/intuition serves us quite well, when we let it do its’ thing, question-free.

You will probably find that the colour you most often gravitate towards is exactly what you need energetically.
Last issue, we discussed why colour is healing; now we will look at how you can effectively colour your world with healing intent! Hear your Healing: Part 2

By: Amber Colbear

Last issue, we discussed the principles behind Vibrational Sound Medicine and its’ intricate relationship to the body’s in-built system of resonance frequency. By introducing a variety of pure tonal sounds we can in essence “tune” the body back into its natural state of being, just as we would tune a guitar by playing it alongside the harmonic scale.

Each of the seven main energy centres within the body, (known as chakras in the east, and over here in the wild west, modern science call them nerve bundles) has a specific frequency resonance that each vibrates to when they are in a balanced state. Interestingly, each chakra or nerve bundle resonates to the same frequency in correspondence with the notes of the Harmonic Scale.

Literally, you could say we all are Music; beating to the tune of our own drum. Take a look at this chart and see how the anatomy of the body meets each chakra and the musical note associated with it.

If the body is in a state of imbalance a variety of issues may surface. One could even say we are manifesting these blockages with our thoughts, but we can certainly use music to re-tune ourselves. It is a simple as listening to our body talk.

How do you feel when you listen to different genres of music?

Why is it that fast tempo progressive metal rock, and its’ subgenres like “Screamo” have such an ill-sided effect on our temperament?

Not to generalize, but at concerts where this type of music is forefront, crowds tend to form mosh pits, creating what is also called controlled violence circle pits, usually found at the foot of the stage.

Participants in mosh pits, claim to utilize this particularly violent outlet to show their “love” or appreciation of the music. Meanwhile, if we were to be graced with another Bob Marley or John Lennon concert, their audiences were always found in a peaceful state, often communing with other concert goers over their mutual love for the artists’ performing.

If you find that you feel off, take time to listen to how your body responds to the music you most often choose to listen to. Remember that pure tonal sounds that resonate with the harmonic scale are healing to the body and stimulate the energy centers listed in the charts, resetting them into their natural state, ultimately putting you at ease. An easy way to pinpoint music that balances the body’s energy centers is to look at the lyrics. Not to play up the puns, but most often, the lyrics will denote and echo the energetic impact of the tonal frequencies contained within any piece of music.

Therefore, you can quite literally re-tune your body with some of your favourite songs. Go through your music library, check out the keys in which your favourite music was composed, pay close attention to the lyrics and build yourself a dandy lil’ playlist of ditties that will have your body rocking to the tune of perfect pitch in body, mind and spirit! It’s that easy! For more on vibrational sound medicine, visit

Hear your healing!

By: Amber Colbear

At first mention, the term “Vibrational Sound Medicine”, often surprises or strikes a chord of curiosity in most folks. While, it sounds seemingly unconventional, it is actually an ancient and modern healing modality that we can observe every day consciously and unconsciously.

Since, innately we all respond to the resonating rock and rolls of rhythm and blues, in a variety of our own everyday ways. Physically, we see this in the tapping of our foot alongside a tune on the radio. Even more so, in the occasional air guitar or finger drum session that jams out when a special song starts thumping. In contrast, there’s always that one or two songs on standby that let lose the ol’ shoulder tension when we need to unwind.

Mentally, a song can bring back a catalogue of sensory acuities; like smell and memory, moreover the use of classical compositions lend to analytic concentration, cognitive therapies and aid in unearthing and harnessing one’s true creative potentials. Meanwhile, emotionally, we can become nostalgic, romantic, amped or even moody over a melody or a bass line. In the same turn, we all have that one special song that will turn our frown upside down.

From a spiritual standpoint, in modern day we see the use of music to inspire; uplifting a myriad of universal truths and imploring philanthropic causes. Ancient civilizations, indigenous cultures and modern day religious forums commonly employ the use of music, as a cornerstone in entertainment, celebration and healing. In kind, some people find specific types of music to be quite off-putting.

Generally speaking, the music, static or sounds that people find most disconcerting usually have jarring, pitchy or tinny sounds or spikes within its hum or frequency. By and large, the sound produced in these instances usually has very low EMF (electromagnetic frequency) that runs in disharmony with the natural frequency of the human body.

Ever wonder where “walking to the tune of your favourite song” came from?  This turn of phrase speaks amply towards the power of sound, as it stirs the surreal and real, affecting the temperaments of at least, four known states of being.
To keep it simple, these four main realities intermingle to carry the weight of balancing health in the realms of our physical, spiritual, emotional and mental wellbeing.

Vibrational Sound Medicine like the Law of Physics validates the foundation that everything in existence is in a constant state of vibration. The frequency at which a person, place or thing most naturally vibrates at is called resonance. Our energy field is an intricate mosaic that finds its purest expression in a symphony of sound, frequency, matter, and of course, energy!

The auric field, Chakra centers, organs and skeletal system in the body, all hold a different resonance frequency. When we are off balance physically, emotionally, mentally or spiritually; a part of the body is vibrating out of tune creating “dis-ease” or disease due to vibrational disharmony. Our body is in a healthy state of balance when each cell, organ and Chakra create a resonance that is in harmony with our whole being.

Vibrational Sound Medicine works on the premise that all illness or disease is a blockage in one or all of these four realities. When there is a blockage, the reciprocal cell, organ and/or chakra in query stops vibrating at a healthy frequency and results in a malady of the body, mind, heart or soul.

Thus, through the intentional application of pure tonal sound in helix with the body’s natural resonance, we can balance and release any blockages in our etheric and physical bodies to maintain total health and wellbeing.

Tune into Gusto Magazine’s next issue to find out more about Vibrational Sound Medicine and how to tune up your body with your favourite tunes!
