Homemade deodorant - from Apple Tree Wellness

Have you ever wondered how you could replace your deoderant with something more natural and better for you?! Marcelle has found the answer!

Homemade deodorant

I started overhauling my beauty products a couple of years ago, replacing my moisturisers and eye make up removers with coconut oil, using apple cider vinegar as a great hair conditioner, but the one that would always let me down is deodorant. I knew it was important because all the lymphatics for the arm are processed in the nodes right there in your axilla. I have tried lots of options, crystals (?!), salts, you name it, eventually settling on just using baking powder, because well, it works! But lets be honest, there is nothing fancy about it and a girl likes a bit of fancy sometimes! There are lots of recipes online but here is the one that works for me:

¼ cup baking soda
¼ cup arrowroot
3 drops of Young Living Lemon Essential Oil*
3 drops of Young Living Lavender Essential Oil
4 drops of Young Living Rosemary Essential Oil
Enough coconut oil to mix into a paste.
*all Young Living essential oils available at Appletree Health and Wellness.

Combine all ingredients until a thick paste is created and then store in an airtight container. It takes about 10 minutes to make and you only need to use a tiny amount each time. I will say that it may take a few months until you have detoxed from the other ingredients contained within store-bought deodorants but I am happy to report a fresh smelling and toxin free axilla!
