What is Five Elements Acupressure?
Five Elements is a key component to all aspects of Chinese Medicine. It states that the five elements (wood, fire, earth, metal and water) are the foundations of all matter in the universe. Through understanding the unique properties of each one and how they interact with each other within us, we can better understand our basic natures, our imbalances and ultimately our paths of healing. What is Acupressure?
Acupressure is very much like acupuncture except that it is using finger touch instead of needles. Acupressure is safe and comfortable and is suitable for many ailments and conditions. A typical session takes 90 minutes and is conducted with the client fully clothed, facing up on a massage table. What can I expect from my first session? In order to better meet your individual needs, I ask that you fill out an intake form outlining your medical history and current condition. From that we will discuss what your aims are and what acupressure can do for you. This process takes a little longer, so it is advised to set aside at least 2 hours if you are intending to have a session following.

Acupressure Facial plus Foot Massage
A beautiful treat to give to yourself or a loved one, this session is geared towards relaxation, and rejuvenation. The facial acts in much the same way as a traditional facial, by reducing lines and fatigue to the skin and improving muscle tone. The added benefit of acupressure is the focus on the acupoints that relieve hidden tensions and ultimately aid in the healing of many other parts of the body. Also excellent for headaches and migraines. The facial is followed by a Chinese Foot Massage which helps to further relax and enhance healing. Many of the most important acupoints on the whole body lie in the foot and ankle area.
Five Elements Acupressure
After discussing your current condition and what you hope to get out of the treatment, the practitioner creates a personalized session based on your own needs. This is directed towards maximizing your healing by addressing the points that will give the most benefit for you at this time. These points are held in combination with corresponding points that help release and balance them. This process essentially uses the body's own innate regulating system and as such all healing comes from within.
This approach to healing is more indepth than the Facial/Foot Massage and is best when wanting to get into your healing on a deeper level.

I have been interested in natural healing for most of my life, having studied yoga, tai chi and healing with whole foods. I completed my Practitioner's certification in Neuro-Linguistic Programming in 2011 at Kona University. I then went on to study Five Elements Acupressure at the Canadian Acupressure College in Victoria, BC. There I learned about the ancient practices and foundational knowledge of Chinese meridian theory and how that relates to the individual and their well being. It is a fascinating subject that I am thrilled to be a part of. And I love seeing how its application change people's lives.
I completed my F.E.A. Practitioner's Diploma in early 2013 after an extensive internship program. Marcia Hewett-Hicks Dip FEA
